Flowers are a vital part of my work. They remind me that everything has a beginning, time and an end. Flowers that will bloom, they will wither and bloom again and wither again along with the seasons. They remind me of the limited time of our existence. The limited time that everything we experience, has. The fact that time is not actually of importance and the only thing that defined time, it was mortality. Everything that we experience , whether good or bad, will come and go. Even if they don’t go, they will become something else until we go.
Flowers that will live for a brief time at the studio in Mithimnis. Flowers that will bloom, they will wither and bloom again and wither again along with the seasons, just like the natural cycles of life. And as in these cycles, there will be times that are more challenging, uncertain or even unpleasant as well as others that are filled up with light, growth, joy and pure bliss.
This series serves as a reminder to trust the discomfortness and hold on to faith and resilience during the dark ones while also cherishing and embracing the moments of light and growth. Whatever comes, it goes. The simple fact of existence itself it’s where the meaning is and the fact that time is limited, it’s what makes everything more bearable and meaningful.
Mithimnis Flowers are an ode to strength, resilinece and rebirth. A reminder that nothing lasts forever, and even if it does, it may never stay the same.
